Dental Implants

Advantages of Dental Implants

  • The next best thing to healthy, natural teeth

  • A long-term solution to tooth loss

  • Keep your teeth where they belong – in your mouth

  • Restore face shape and a natural smile

  • Prevent bone loss and deterioration

Implants vs. Dentures

  • Permanent
  • Keep teeth in place
  • Replaces the natural tooth root
  • No risk of jawbone deterioration
  • Removable
  • May slip and affect speech
  • Relies on support from adjacent teeth
  • Bone loss may occur over time

Are you a candidate for Dental Implants?

Smoking

Smoking has a significant impact on oral tissue loss and bone loss. Many research studies have shown that smoking can lead to higher rates of dental implant failure. However, smoking does not prevent candidacy for the procedure.

Healthy Gum Tissue

Since dental implants are closely connected with gum tissue, the gums must be healthy before the procedure can begin. Treatment can be administered to improve gum health before implant surgery.

Oral Health

Various oral conditions can impede dental implant success. However, implants can be installed in some cases at the discretion of the dentist.

Age

Dental implants are a solution for patients of all ages, with the exception of growing children. Because missing teeth can cause bone loss in the jaw over time, dental implants are especially recommended for younger patients.

Adequate jaw bone

Since implants fuse directly to the jawbone, there must be enough bone available to secure the implant. Certain procedures may be necessary before implant surgery to improve jaw deformities or bone loss.

Overall health

The best candidates for dental implants are in good overall health. However, implants have been successfully placed in those who have existing medical conditions, such as high blood pressure and diabetes.
