About Dr. Behzad Shelechi
Dr. Behzad Shelechi was born in Tehran, Iran. His family immigrated to the United States when he was just 9 years old. He grew up in Central California and moved to Southern California during high school. Dr. Shelechi had many dental concerns as a child, including a cleft lip. Because of his experience, he discovered a passion for dentistry and a desire to help others with similar situations.
Dr. Shelechi completed his undergraduate at California State University, Fullerton and received his doctoral degree at the University of Southern California, School of Dentistry. While attending USC School of Dentistry he met Dr. Tomazin when they were both chosen to attend the IV sedation selective course; only 7 out of 144 students in their class were chosen for this opportunity!
Dr. Shelechi completed his Anesthesiology residency at New York University in Langone, at Brooklyn Hospital. He is ACLS, PALS, and BLS Certified.
Dr. Shelechi is the newest member of our practice! He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, and already has a strong working relationship with Dr. Tomazin and our office staff. He has attended various courses with us, including the I.A.O.M.T. (International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology) course in Vermont, in 2018.
Like Dr. Tomazin, he strives to stay up to date with the latest dental materials and technology and is ever evolving in his biological dentistry approach.
Prior to working with Dr. Tomazin, Dr. Shelechi worked for the past 10 years as a mobile anesthesiologist, providing anesthesia and dental services for many patients including pediatric, special needs and patients with dental anxiety. Due to his own dental anxiety Dr. Shelechi treats every patient with compassion and understands dental anxiety as a result of his own experiences. He treats his patients as if they were family.
When away from dentistry and anesthesia, Dr. Shelechi enjoys an active lifestyle. He enjoys spending time outdoors, playing sports, flying, music, and hanging out with friends.
